What is the process to be a ball person?
You must first submit an online application. Tennis Canada will then contact you with the tryout dates. Attendance at all tryout days is mandatory to be considered. In Montreal, the selection process and training camp take place over three days, while in Toronto tryouts are held over two days.
Who can register as a new ball person?
For both the Montreal and Toronto tournaments, new ball persons must be older than 12 and under 16 years old during the National Bank Open.
When can I complete the registration form?
In Montreal, registration is open from February until the week before tryouts. In Toronto, applications can be submitted from January 15 to May 1.
How can I prepare for the tryouts?
Wear clothing suitable for energetic physical activity and tennis or running shoes that do not mark the court. The final tryout session includes a match simulation, so basic knowledge of tennis rules and gameplay is recommended.
