FREE FUN FOR EVERYONE AT THE IGA FAMILY WEEKEND AT THE NATIONAL BANK OPEN PRESENTED BY ROGERS

Family-friendly activities and the qualifying tournament

The 2022 National Bank Open presented by Rogers in Montréal will get off to a fantastic start with the IGA Family Weekend presented in association with Maple Leaf Foods and VIA Rail Canada. From Friday, August 5 to Sunday, August 7, IGA Stadium will open its gates and give fans free access to the site to watch the best in men’s tennis compete in the qualifying tournament and train on the practice courts. In addition to plenty of tennis, the IGA Family Weekend features a range of fun activities for the entire family, including an ATP vs. NHL ball hockey showdown and an ATP vs. CF Montréal soccer match.

“The IGA Family Weekend is a terrific initiative we launched several years ago to help families discover the world of tennis at no cost,” said Eugène Lapierre, tournament director of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers. “Tennis Canada is always working to make our sport more accessible and more inclusive, and the IGA Family Weekend remains a priority for us since it makes a real difference: year after year, we welcome thousands of parents and children who come to see the world’s best players at IGA Stadium. That just goes to show how much enthusiasm there is for tennis in Montréal and Québec, and we want everyone—regardless of their social or financial status—to have the opportunity to enjoy our tournament.”

TRAINING SESSIONS AND QUALIFYING MATCHES

Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 5, fans can catch a glimpse of the ATP superstars on the practice courts and Centre Court. And starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7, several excellent players, including former Top 10 aces David Goffin and Fabio Fognini, will be in competition. Goffin should be coming into Montréal with a lot of confidence following his quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon thanks to his wins over then No.28 Frances Tiafoe and then No.35 Sebastian Baez of Argentina.

Important note: For the qualifying tournament, tickets for the IGA Family Weekend include free access to sections 303 and 304 on Centre Court, level 200 on Rogers Court and the outer courts. Places are limited: first come, first seated! Fans who want to reserve a seat on Centre Court can purchase a ticket (starting at $15).

ATP VS NHL AND AHL

The Ball Hockey Challenge presented by Knapper is back this year as hockey stars and tennis stars go head-to-head. Jonathan Huberdeau (Calgary Flames), Jonathan Drouin and Nick Suzuki (Montréal Canadiens), Mélodie Daoust (Team Canada), Zachary L’Heureux (Nashville Predators’ first-round draft pick in 2021) and Peter Abbandonato and Danick Martel (Laval Rocket) will be in it to win it, so don’t miss it! The players face-off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 6 on Court 2.

ATP VS CF MONTREAL

On Sunday, August 7 at 2 p.m., Court 2 will host a friendly soccer match as the ATP takes on CF Montréal, with James Pantemis, Djordje Mihailovic, Ismaël Koné, Sebastian Breza, Mathieu Choinière and Alistair Johnston in attendance!
