Former Top 10 Players Kei Nishikori and Roberto Bautista Agut Among Qualifying List for 2024 National Bank Open in Montreal

Qualifying matches will be held on August 4 and 5 as part of the IGA Family Weekend

Tennis Canada has released the list of players who are set to take part in the qualifying draw of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO) in Montreal. With eight spots in the main draw on the line, 28 ATP players will be competing in the preliminary event held at IGA Stadium on August 4 and 5 during the IGA Family Weekend in association with VIA Rail Canada and Kamik Canada.

The qualifying player list includes some notable names, such as Japan’s Kei Nishikori, former world No. 4, who was an NBO finalist in 2016. Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain, three-time quarterfinalist at the NBO, will also be hitting the IGA Stadium courts during qualifying weekend. Joining these experienced veterans from the new generation of the ATP Tour is 21-year-old Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France, who most recently reached the round of 16 during his Wimbledon debut. Italy’s Luca Nardi, 20, and American Alex Michelsen, 19, both of whom competed in the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals, will also be in the lineup.

Other players heading to Montreal in the hope of securing a place in the main draw are Australian Alexei Popyrin (No. 43), who achieved a career-best result at Wimbledon this month, reaching the third round before losing in four sets to Serbia's Novak Djokovic, and Austrian Sebastian Ofner (No. 50), who was an ATP-250 finalist in Mallorca, Spain, last month.

“The list of players revealed last week when the main-draw players were announced, and again today with the list of qualifying players, truly shows the quantity of talent and depth that currently exists on the ATP Tour,” said Valérie Tétreault, Tournament Director of the National Bank Open in Montreal. “The IGA Family Weekend that features two rounds of qualifying already guarantees some very high-level tennis, knowing that some qualifiers have made some deep runs in main draws this year. That's what makes this sport so much fun – never knowing what's going to happen and watching history unfold before our eyes.”
