Pegula Looks to Keep Canadian Streak Alive: Follow the Live Quarter-Final Results from Toronto

Jessica Pegula has never failed to reach the semifinals when playing in the main draw of the National Bank Open. Can she make it four straight final fours?

Also, the Grandstand is jam-packed with Canadian doubles talent on Saturday.

Follow along as results are updated throughout the day.

Saturday, Aug. 10 - Quarter-finals

CENTRE COURT starts at 1:00 PM

  • [8] Emma Navarro (USA) d. [LL] Taylor Townsend (USA) 6-3, 7-6(5)
    • Navarro plays a bit better at the end of each set, breaking late in the first and hanging on in the second set tiebreak to reach her first WTA 1000 semifinal.

Not before 4:00 pm

  • Amanda Anisimova (USA) d. [2] Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 6-2
    • Anisimova continues to be a problem matchup for Sabalenka, as the second seed struggled to find her range, committing eight double faults and dropping serve four times.

Not before 7:00 pm

  • [3] Jessica Pegula (USA) d. Peyton Stearns (USA) 6-4, 7-5
    • It looked like the defending champion was going to be pushed to a deciding set when Stearns served for the second at 5-3, but the younger American got tight and Pegula took advantage, winning the last four games in a row.
  • [14] Diana Shnaider d. [6] Liudmila Samsonova 4-6, 6-1, 6-4
    • A lower-body injury early in the second set derailed Samsonova's momentum. Shnaider raced ahead 3-0 and maintained her grip on the match the rest of the way, claiming the lone break of the third set late.

CASHMERE GRANDSTAND starts at 3:00 pm

  • Bianca Jolie Fernandez (CAN)/Leylah Annie Fernandez (CAN) d. Kristina Mladenovic (FRA)/Shuai Zhang (CHN) 7-5, 5-7, 12-10
    • The Fernandez sisters missed a pair of match points at 5-4 on return in the second set before nervy tiebreak where every player double-faulted within the last six points. Zhang doubled on her match point at 9-8 and Bianca did the same at 10-9, but then Mladenovic threw in a double down match point to send the sisters into semis.
  • [1] Gabriela Dabrowski (CAN)/Erin Routliffe (NZL) d. [WC] Ariana Arseneault (CAN)/Mia Kupres (CAN) 3-6, 6-3, 10-4
    • The young Canadian duo dominated the opening set but could not maintain their level as Dabrowski and Routliffe reeled them back in late in the match.
