It’s down to the final eight in the singles and doubles draws at the Australian Open as we move closer to crowning the first Grand Slam champions of the season in Melbourne.
The men’s singles draw has essentially gone according to plan with the top 6 seeds all advancing to the quarter-final stage including Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, and Alexander Zverev. Hubert Hurkacz and Taylor Fritz round out the last eight.
Given the impressive lineup, it promises to be a thrilling final three rounds. Will anyone be able to prevent Djokovic from capturing a seventh consecutive Aussie Open title and an eleventh overall?

Meanwhile, the women’s draw has been the opposite of predictable. The top half will produce a first-time Major finalist between Anna Kalinskaya, Linda Noskova, Dayana Yatremska, and Qinwen Zheng after Victoria Azarenka and Elina Svitolina were eliminated in the Round of 16. By contrast, a trio of Grand Slam winners remain in the bottom half with defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Barbora Krejcikova ready to add to their trophy case.
Gabriela Dabrowski (women’s and mixed doubles), Keegan Rice (juniors), and Rob Shaw (wheelchair) continue to fly the Canadian flag in Melbourne. Be sure to keep up with your favourite homegrown players as they travel the globe week after week courtesy of Canadians in action.
