Four men entered, but only two advanced to Wednesday's semifinals at the 2025 National Bank Open.
The lineup was stacked with four of the Top 10 seeds vying to reach the semis. The first doubles semifinal also took place, while the wheelchair event concluded.
CENTRE COURT - start at 4:30 PM
- [2] Julian Cash (GBR) / Lloyd Glasspool (GBR) d. [4] Kevin Krawietz (GER) / Tim Puetz (GER) 6-3, 7-6(2)
- Cash and Glasspool saved their best for late in the sets, breaking in the eighth game of the first and going on a five-point run early to seize control of the second-set tiebreak.
Not Before 7:00 PM
- [2] Taylor Fritz (USA) d. [6] Andrey Rublev 6-3, 7-6(4)
- Fritz opened the match with a break and looked like he was going to cruise to victory. He was averaging nearly two aces a game and after breaking to go up 5-4 in the second, seemed like he was going to walk into the semis as he had not yet faced a break point all day. However, Rublev mounted a late push, breaking out of nowhere to put the set back on serve. He was just delaying the inevitable though as Fritz got a minibreak on the first point of the tiebreak that proved to be the only point to go against serve.
- [4] Ben Shelton (USA) d. [9] Alex de Minaur (AUS) 6-3, 6-4
- Shelton started applying pressure on de Minaur early and kept it up throughout the match. One broke break was enough to take the first set and he seemed well on his way to the semis when he went up an early break in the second. Like Rublev in the previous match, de Minaur mounted a push and broke right back, but there was no slowing down Shelton. The American broke again immediately to reclaim his advantage and did not face another break point the rest of the way.
COURT 1 – start at 4:30 PM
- Thomas Venos (CAN) d. Barrry Henderson (CAN) 7-2, 7-3
- Henderson upped his game in the second after Venos dominated the first tiebreak, but Venos finished strong to clinch his third win.
Followed by
- Barry Henderson (CAN) / Shawn Courchesne (CAN) d. Thomas Venos (CAN) / Anne-Marie Dolinar (CAN) 6-3, 6-2
- Courchesne and Henderson pulled away in the middle of both sets, breaking three times in a row in the first and winning the last four games of the second from 2-all.
*Rob Shaw was forced to withdraw. His singles match has been cancelled and his spot in the doubles will be filled by Anne-Marie Dolinar.
