Days until National Bank Open: 18
Jannik Sinner is back on top.
The world No. 1 claimed the fifth Grand Slam title of his career with a 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 win over Alexander Zverev to repeat as Wimbledon champion.
It’s the first Grand Slam and sixth title of 2026 for Sinner, who successfully rebounded after his shocking upset loss at Roland-Garros.
“I think every Grand Slam is different,” Sinner said in his post-match press conference. “Different story, different environment, different feelings before the tournament. For me this one means a lot because it was a tough one after Paris again. But coming here, I tried to put myself in the best possible position to be as competitive as possible.
“Definitely sacrificing a lot of my time and everything to be in this position. Having this achievement, it means a lot to me. It was an amazing day today.”

Sinner earned his 100th Grand Slam match win in Sunday’s final, becoming the eighth active men’s player to reach the milestone, joining Novak Djokovic (409), Stan Wawrinka (160), Marin Cilic (143), Zverev (131), Gael Monfils (130), Kei Nishikori (104) and Grigor Dimitrov (103). Among these players, only Djokovic (87.6 per cent) has a higher winning percentage at majors than Sinner (82 per cent).
The Italian now has two Wimbledon titles (2025, 2026), two Australian Open titles (2024, 2025) and one US Open victory (2024). It had been a full year since Sinner’s last major win, when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon in 2025.
Sinner now heads towards the hard-court season firmly in control of the No. 1 ranking and seems primed to challenge for his second US Open title.
