Centre Court will be rocking as Wednesday’s night session, headlined by Leylah Annie Fernandez and Alexandra Eala, is set for a packed house.

For Fernandez, Wednesday marks the first steps towards her dream of winning the title on home soil. Then, fresh off a trophy in Washington, Eala makes her Toronto debut in front of what is sure to be a passionate crowd.

But that’s just under the lights at Centre Court. All three of this year’s Grand Slam champions will also be opening their 2026 NBO accounts throughout the day. See where and when in August 5’s Toronto preview.

On-court Action

Major champions take over Sobeys Stadium on Wednesday. Centre Court’s action begins at 12:30 pm as this year’s Australian Open titlist Elena Rybakina faces Daria Kasatkina. The No. 2 seed has reached the semifinals or better in each of the last four WTA 1000s in North America, dating back to the 2025 National Bank Open in Montreal.

Rybakina’s opener is followed by two-time Slam champion Coco Gauff taking on fellow American Kayla Day.

Later, Centre Court is sure to be loud. Fernandez, Canada’s No. 1 at the NBO, takes to the court not before 7 pm for her opening match in front of her home crowd. The Lavalloise plays Renata Zarazua, who was a part of the Mexico squad that faced Canada at the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs.

The moment Toronto’s Filipino community has been waiting for will conclude the night session as Eala looks to build off her maiden WTA title in Washington just a few days ago. American Alycia Parks will be the one planning to play spoiler against the world No. 20.

Grandstand’s slate almost feels like Centre Court’s. Canadian Kayla Cross, coming off her first WTA win in round one, will kick off the day at 11 am against No. 28 seed Ann Li. Then, catch two-time NBO titlist Jessica Pegula battle Magdalena Frech.

Around the Grounds

Tennis Canada celebrates the community at Sobeys Stadium. Canadian doubles No. 1 Gabriela Dabrowski will be part of the Special Olympics clinic on Rogers First Set tennis court at 10:30 am.

Prior to each day-session match on Centre Court, there will also be a Tennis for All demonstration, featuring a look at everything from junior, senior, and wheelchair tennis.

Make sure you don’t leave without an autograph from reigning NBO champion Victoria Mboko, who will be doing a signing at the National Bank activation from 3 to 3:30pm. Then, on your way out, Häagen-Dazs will be giving away free samples to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Mboko will be back during the night session though, signing more autographs at the Merchant of Tennis from 5:15-5:45 pm thanks to Wilson.
