  • From a set and a break at 4-3 down in qualifying, the 19-year-old Korneeva is now through to the fourth round of a WTA 1000 for the first time in her career. She came racing out of the gate on Friday morning against her fellow teen, breaking the 24th seed twice on her way to a 4-0 lead. Jovic only managed to recover one of the breaks before dropping serve again in the final game of the set. Holds of serve were hard to come by in the second, as each woman was broken three times on their way to 4-4. Korneeva put the pressure on again as Jovic served to stay in the match. The qualifier fought her way to match point where she laced a forehand winner at the end of a long rally to secure her second consecutive straight-set upset of a seed.
