PERONI REFRESH: AN ACTION-PACKED TUESDAY

After rain wreaked havoc on Monday’s schedule, no less than 21 matches were on Tuesday’s order of play at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers and the impressive lineup certainly did not disappoint. Between the thrilling points and exciting finishes, fans were left riveted throughout the day at IGA Stadium.

FAN FAVOURITES AND TOP SEEDS DON’T DISAPPOINT

Many familiar names advanced to the second round, including Grigor Dimitrov, Gael Monfils and Nick Kyrgios, who kept his win streak alive after capturing the Washington title on Sunday. Meanwhile, seeds Cameron Norrie, Taylor Fritz, Marin Cilic, and Diego Schwatzman also opened their Montreal campaigns with victories.

Unfortunately, the three Canadians in action weren’t as fortunate with Alexis Galarneau, Denis Shapovalov, and Vasek Pospisil all being eliminated in their opening match.

Fritz and 19-year-old rising star Holger Rune both posted the first wins of their career in Canada. Tuesday’s results have set up a mouth-watering Wednesday lineup. Don’t miss it!

ALEKSANDRA WOZNIAK’S HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

Prior to Tuesday’s evening session, former world no. 21 Aleksandra Wozniak, along with acclaimed tennis journalist Tom Tebbutt, were inducted into the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame, during an on-court ceremony.

It was fitting that the ceremony happened at the National Bank Open, Wozniak’s hometown tournament where she reached the quarter-finals in 2012.

A HAPPY HOUR MOMENT

Earlier this week, Félix Auger-Aliassime had the chance to play piano alongside famous Montreal pianist Alexandra Stréliski. Little did he know that she also had a special surprise for him on his birthday: an emotional reunion with his family.
