Not Before 7:00 pm

  • [WC] M. Raonic (CAN) d. [9] F. Tiafoe (USA) 6-7(12), 7-6(4), 6-3
    • After dropping a wild first-set tiebreak, the local favourite locks in and rides his mighty serve, which fired 37 aces, as he takes an early lead in the decider and never let the world No. 10 back in it.
  • [Q] M. Arnaldi (ITA) d. [WC] V. Pospisil (CAN) 6-4, 6-4
    • Despite a quick start and an early break, Pospisil could not keep up the momentum as Arnaldi took control for the win.

GRANDSTAND start 12:00 pm

  • [16] L. Musetti (ITA) d. Y. Nishioka (JPN) 6-4, 6-1
    • Musetti puts on a serving clinic, firing 11 aces, saving the only two break points he faced, and losing just four points on his first serve.
  • A. Davidovich Fokina (ESP) d. J. Wolf (USA) 6-0, 6-2
    • Davidovich Fokina needs just over an hour to cruise past Wolf, breaking serve six times.

Not Before 2:30 pm

Not Before 4:00 pm

  • [PR] G. Monfils (FRA) d. C. Eubanks (USA) 7-6(3), 6-7(4), 6-1
    • One of the most-anticipated round-one matches lived up to the hype with Eubanks saving two match points in the second set, but Monfils had another gear in the decider.
  • [12] T. Paul (USA) d. [Q] D. Schwartzman (ARG) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4
    • Paul wins 81 per cent of his first serve points and hits 31 winners to battle past a former Top 10 opponent.

COURT 1 start 12:00 pm

  • J. Lehecka (CZE) d. B. Nakashima (USA) 7-5, 3-7, 7-6(2)

  • [Q] T. Kokkinakis (AUS) d. Z. Zhang (CHN) 7-5, 6-4
    • The qualifier fires 14 aces and 28 winners to claim his first win in Canada.
