    • The former Wimbledon runner-up posts an amazing 24-3 winner-to-unforced-error ratio in a convincing win.

  • [WC] M. Raonic (CAN) d. [9] F. Tiafoe (USA) 6-7(12), 7-6(4), 6-3
    • After dropping a wild first-set tiebreak, the local favourite locks in and rides his mighty serve, which fired 37 aces, as he takes an early lead in the decider and never let the world No. 10 back in it.
  • [Q] M. Arnaldi (ITA) d. [WC] V. Pospisil (CAN) 6-4, 6-4 
    • Despite a quick start and an early break, Pospisil could not keep up the momentum as Arnaldi took control for the win.

  • [16] L. Musetti (ITA) d. Y. Nishioka (JPN) 6-4, 6-1
    • Musetti puts on a serving clinic, firing 11 aces, saving the only two break points he faced, and losing just four points on his first serve.
  • A. Davidovich Fokina (ESP) d. J. Wolf (USA) 6-0, 6-2
    • Davidovich Fokina needs just over an hour to cruise past Wolf, breaking serve six times.

    • 31 winners for Hurkacz, 10 double faults for Bublik and the 2022 runner-up is into round two.

  • [PR] G. Monfils (FRA) d. C. Eubanks (USA) 7-6(3), 6-7(4), 6-1
    • One of the most-anticipated round-one matches lived up to the hype with Eubanks saving two match points in the second set, but Monfils had another gear in the decider.
  • [12] T. Paul (USA) d. [Q] D. Schwartzman (ARG) 6-3, 3-6, 6-4
    • Paul wins 81 per cent of his first serve points and hits 31 winners to battle past a former Top 10 opponent.

COURT 1 start 12:00 pm

  • J. Lehecka (CZE) d. B. Nakashima (USA) 7-5, 3-7, 7-6(2)
    • Despite having fewer winners, Lehecka saves eight of 10 break points and plays a brilliant third-set tiebreak to steal the win.
  • [Q] T. Kokkinakis (AUS) d. Z. Zhang (CHN) 7-5, 6-4
    • The qualifier fires 14 aces and 28 winners to claim his first win in Canada.
  • [Q] T. Daniel (JPN) d. A. Mannarino (FRA) 7-6(5), 6-4
    • Daniel wins 81 per cent of his first serve points and 60 per cent of Mannarino's second serve points to advance. 
  • [Q] C. Garin (CHI) vs M. Kecmanovic (SRB)
    • In the longest match of the day, Kecmanovic rallies from a break down in the deciding set to steal the victory.

  • N. Lammons (USA) / J. Withrow (USA) d. R. Haase (NED) / N. Mektic (CRO) 6-2, 7-6(5)
    • The Americans win 80 per cent of their first-serve points and combine for nine aces in the win.
  • M. Purcell (AUS) / A. Rublev d. [5] H. Nys (MON) / J. Zielinski (POL) 7-5, 6-4
    • Singles world No. 7 and his partner break late in each set while not dropping serve to upset the fifth seeds.

  • M. Arevalo (ESA) / J. Rojer (NED) d. A. de Minaur (AUS) / J. Sinner (ITA) 4-6, 6-3, [10-4] 
    • Arevalo and Rojer up their serving in the second set and don't drop a point on their own delivery in the super tiebreak to win.
  • [7] M. Granollers (ESP) / H. Zeballos (ARG) d. [WC] G. Diallo (CAN) / A. Galarneau (CAN) 6-4, 6-2
    • Canadian pair can only muster seven points on return while being broken three times in defeat.
