Four Canadians battle for a spot in the main draw
On Sunday, the qualifying rounds of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers get underway at 11 a.m. at IGA Stadium.
Seven spots in the main draw are up for grabs, and four Canadians will fight it out to secure the two wins they need to move on. The first round is on Sunday, and the second is on Monday.
Alexis Galarneau will play the second match of the day on Centre Court against Facundo Diaz Acosta (6) of Argentina. At the same time, on Court 5, Nicolas Arsenault will face an uphill battle against Brandon Nakashima (4).

In the third match on Centre Court, it’s Liam Draxl vs. face Borna Coric (14) of Croatia, who’s been working hard to get closer to where he once was in the rankings.
The other Canadian in the running is Taha Baadi, who takes on Jakub Mensik (7) of Czechia at 3 p.m. on Rogers Court.
The top seed is Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard of France, who’ll open the competition at 11 a.m. on Centre Court. Yoshihito Nishioka (2) of Japan will do the same on Rogers Court.
