Sinner returns with home-court win
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner returned from a three-month doping ban with a win in front of his home crowd in Rome, defeating the 99th-ranked Mariano Navone in the second round.
It was his first match since winning his third Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January.
“Amazing feeling. I have waited quite long for this moment,” Sinner said. “I am very happy to be back."
Sinner is looking to become the first Italian man to win in Rome since Adriano Panatta in 1976.
