On-Court Action
Second-seeded Taylor Fritz returns to the court after a marathon match against Jiri Lehecka on Sunday. The three-set thriller, which Fritz won by the narrowest of margins, featured three tiebreaks and took just under three hours to complete.
He will clash with a familiar foe on Tuesday in Andrey Rublev. The No. 6 seed advanced to the quarter-finals after Alejandro Davidovich Fokina retired in the third set of their fourth-round match while trailing 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 3-0. The pair have faced off nine times in their careers, with Fritz holding a slim 5-4 lead. Six of their nine head-to-head matches have come at 1000-level tournaments, where Fritz holds a 4-2 advantage.
Ben Shelton and Alex de Minaur will battle in Tuesday’s other quarter-final. Both men endured a three-set match in the round of 16, with Shelton defeating Flavio Cobolli, and de Minaur, last weekend’s Citi Open champion, beating Frances Tiafoe. This is the first career matchup between the two, with both still in search of their first 1000-level title.

I'm really excited. I love playing against some of the best players in the world in the late stages of tournaments.”
