The Ultimate Ticket Guide to the 2026 NBO Experience in the Tennis Playground

The 2025 edition of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers was historic in more ways than one.

A new expanded format, a new tournament brand identity, a first Masters 1000 title for Ben Shelton in Toronto, and a chapter for Canadian tennis record books written by Victoria Mboko in Montreal.

With the memories of a magical NBO summer still fresh, preparations for year two of our twelve-day model are well underway. 96 players, seven rounds, 21 sessions. More tennis, more activities, more music, more food, more theme days, more fun. It’s all happening from August 1-13, 2026.

*Dates, schedules, sessions, and programming are subject to change.

Interested in entering the Tennis Playground to see what all the fuss is about, but aren’t sure where to start? Don’t worry, let us break it down for you. If it starts to feel like déjà vu that’s because we’re approaching the Grand Slam formula.

We Take Fun Seriously – Qualifying and First Round (August 1-2)

Both cities will once again kick off their festivities with the always-popular IGA Family Weekend in association with LEGO in Montreal and the 407 ETR Family Weekend in Toronto which are tailormade for fans of all ages. Qualifying will once again be a one-day affair on Saturday, August 1 with 32 players vying for a place in the main draw.

In Toronto, admission is free while in Montreal, free grounds passes are available for the day as well as reserved seating on the main show courts starting for as little as $15. It’s the perfect opportunity to introduce your friends and family to tennis.

In addition to plenty of kid-friendly attractions like face painting, mascots, cotton candy, and giant bubbles, both family weekends always host plenty of familiar faces, both on the court and off. They will wrap up on Sunday, August 2 with a noteworthy slate of first round matchups on tap during the day and in the evening.

*Free ground passes for Family Weekend will be released closer to the tournament.

Opening Week – First, Second, and Third Rounds (August 3-7)

An expanded 96-player main draw means an extra round and a first-round bye for the top 32 seeds (previously, only the top 8 seeds were given byes), so more of the best players will debut on Tuesday or Wednesday. Each round up until the semi-finals will be contested over two days and players will also benefit from a day of rest between matches.

Opening Week will also highlight many of Tennis Canada’s grassroots programs and initiatives which foster the growth of the sport across the country which are made possible thanks to the net proceeds generated by the tournament. The various theme days will educate about the many benefits of tennis and inspire everyone to get involved.   Tickets for these sessions provide the most value for fans wanting to catch a glimpse of tennis’ biggest names and the next generation of stars.

TennisFest– Round of 16 (August 8-9)

The second weekend at the NBO is a must-see for every tennis fan, from the avid followers to the newcomers, as the remaining 16 players in singles go head-to-head on Centre Court for a place in the quarter-finals over two days and four sessions.

It will be a hot ticket, not only because of the must-see matches, but also because of the festival-like atmosphere around the grounds thanks to the plethora of activities on tap as part of TennisFest. This thematic weekend made an emphatic debut in 2025 with a rocking coffee party, oyster and all-day cocktail happy hours, Retro Night, and much more.

We promised that if the Tennis Gods blessed us with a middle weekend, we would make the most of the opportunity and we’re already plotting how we can make an even bigger splash in 2026.

*Special TennisFest packages coming soon.

Championship Week – Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and Finals (August 10-13)

Speaking of a hot ticket, popular will surely be used to describe what’s on offer during week two with the final three rounds of the tournament set to be held exclusively on Centre Court and exclusively at night over a period of four days, offering more matches in primetime, elevating the experience for fans on-site and those watching from home.

The NBO will culminate with the crowning of our 2026 singles and doubles champions under the lights on Thursday, August 13.

Off the court, every night session during Championship Week will be brought to life with live music, unique sponsor activations, and a prestigious on-site experience worthy of the occasion.
