Berrettini, Diallo & Galarneau get the Main Draw…

We’ve reach day two of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers which means that main draw action is on tap at IGA Stadium.

Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, Canadians Gabriel Diallo and Alexis Galarneau as well as young Spaniard Martin Landaluce are among the players who will take to the court on Sunday looking to book their spot in round two.

Former World No. 6 Berrettini will star during the day session while Diallo and Galarneau will be part of an all-Canadian night session on Centre Court.

Here’s a closer look at those featured three featured match ups:

Berrettini vs. Mariano Navone (ARG): The Italian won both previous meetings on clay in the semifinals of 2024 Marrakech and first round at 2025 Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo. The winner will face No. 14 seed Valentin Vacherot in the second round. Berrettini is appearing in the NBO for the first time since 2023 after missing the previous two years with injuries. Navone’s only previous Canadian showing was two years ago when he lost in the first round. Berrettini is a former World No. 6 in January 2022 and this year he advanced to the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros where he retired with a hip injury (vs. Arnaldi). Navone is one of four Argentines in the Top 50 and in April captured his first career ATP Tour title in Bucharest.

Diallo vs. Kyrian Jacquet (FRA): This will be the first meeting between the two players and the Canadian will be looking to get his 2026 season back on track with a strong showing on home soil. He’ll also be looking for his first main draw victory in Montreal. Jacquet, who reached the second round of Wimbledon this year as a qualifier, will be making his debut in the main draw of a Masters 1000 event.

[WC] Galarneau vs. Vit Kopriva (CZE): This is a first-time meeting between the Canadian wild card and Czechia No. 4. Both players are appearing in the NBO main draw for the second straight year. Galarneau reached the second round in Toronto while Kopriva lost in the first round last year. The winner of this match will face No. 8 seed Jiri Lehecka, who is the top Czechia player on the ATP Tour ranked No. 12.
