It was a long wait for Alejandro Davidovich Fokina but the 27-year-old is finally a winner on the ATP Tour.
In his sixth final appearance, the Spaniard defeated Ethan Quinn 7-6(4), 6-3 in Mallorca to secure his first ATP title.
"It feels amazing to have the first title after five finals,” Davidovich Fokina said. “Today was a very tough battle, he played amazing. In the tie-break, I was pushing myself. In the end I knew that this one has to be mine, in Spain, at home, the first one. It should be mine and I pushed a lot.”

Davidovich Fokina went 0-4 in finals last season, falling to Joao Fonseca (Basel), Alex de Minaur (Washington), Tomas Machac (Acapulco), and Miomir Kecmanovic (Delray Beach).
It has been a relatively tough season for Davidovich Fokina as his ranking dropped to No. 25 from a carer-high of No. 14 to begin this season. However, he will head into the All-England Club this week with momentum and a new rank of No. 23, thanks to his triumph in Mallorca.

No one needed a win more than Zizou Bergs.
The Belgian won the first ATP title of his career on Sunday, defeating Frenchman Ugo Humbert 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to win the Eastbourne Open.
The 27-year-old entered Eastbourne on a six-match tour-level losing streak, with his last ATP victory coming in Munich all the way back in April.
“Thank you to my team,” Bergs said. “We make a great team. We make fun together and we definitely work together really well to always improve. If the results are not there, we keep focusing on improving, and that’s why we’re here today standing with the trophy.”
Bergs, who rose to 37th on tour with the win, reached two finals in Auckland and 's-Hertogenbosch last year but was unable to reach the top of the mountain. This time, he was able to close the deal, rallying from a set down to beat the 30th-ranked Humbert in a tough match that took over two hours to complete.
The two will quickly renew their rivalry and face off in the first round at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Wimbledon has finally arrived as the best on tour descend on the All-England Club for the third Grand Slam of the season.
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner will be the story in the men’s draw at Wimbledon as he tries to put his shocking loss at Roland-Garros behind him. While the Italian remains the heavy favourite, his struggles in Paris have cast some doubt on how dominant he’ll be in London as he tries to defend his title.
Novak Djokovic will make his 21st Wimbledon appearance in search of his eighth victory, which would tie Roger Feder for most all-time. The 24-time major champion has not won a Slam since 2023 but says he is confident heading into this week.
“I think I'm better prepared here than I was for Roland Garros,” Djokovic said. “I always loved playing on grass. I have a very good score here, history, in Wimbledon. That gives me a higher dose of confidence coming into the tournament.
