The start of main-draw play on Sunday was delayed by rain, but the afternoon slate of matches saw plenty of action before the night session was washed away by the elements.

Venus Williams’ singles struggles continued on Sunday, as the seven-time Grand Slam champion fell to Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. The 46-year-old is now 0-10 this season in singles competition and has lost 13 straight overall.

“The fans were amazing. They were with me right in every point — that was fantastic,” Williams said. "It was really fun to be back after having not been here for a while."

Katherine Sebov had a strong showing on Sunday, leading the way for Canadians on Day 2 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Aoi Ito. Ariana Arseneault kicked off the Canadian action in Toronto but was unable to advance, losing to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets.

Bianca Andreescu and Cadence Brace had their matches cancelled due to the rain and will open their tournaments on Monday.

Noelle van Lottum, the head of women's tennis for Tennis Canada, was joined by Megan Oldham, who won gold and bronze at the 2026 Olympics in Milano Cortina, at Tennis Talk on the Main Stage for a panel discussion on what it means to represent Canada at the highest levels.
