Victoria Mboko’s meteoric rise has been impressive to say the least. The Canadian made her tour debut not even a full year ago and now, she’s the newest member of the WTA’s Top 10.
To put into perspective how remarkable Mboko’s surge has been, here’s her historic run to becoming the new world No. 10 by the numbers.
323
Mboko started what would be an extraordinary 2025 sitting at No. 333. The Burlingtonian’s rise quickly started with four-straight ITF titles to begin the year, marking the first steps towards her 323-spot jump to No. 10 in the WTA rankings.
357
After breaking into the Top 200 in February of last year, it took Mboko 357 days to then secure her place in the Top 10. The 19-year-old became the fastest player to achieve that feat since three-time major champion Jennifer Capriati in 1990.
That accomplishment wouldn’t have been made possible without Mboko’s tour success over that span. The Canadian No. 1 capped off a memorable run on home soil with a title at the 2025 National Bank Open presented by Rogers in Montreal, then finished off the year with a second WTA triumph in Hong Kong.
In the first month of 2026, Mboko already made two finals in Adelaide and Doha, and earned her best result at a Grand Slam with a fourth-round finish at the Australian Open.
4
To be a part of the Top 10, you must beat the Top 10. Mboko has four wins of that sort, her biggest coming against world No. 2 Coco Gauff last year in Montreal.

The Canuck’s other three Top 10 victories have all come in 2026. Mboko defeated world No. 9 Madison Keys in Adelaide, then took down Mirra Andreeva and Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina in Doha.
Mboko is also the fourth Canadian in history to make the WTA singles Top 10. Carling Bassett-Seguso was the first in 1984, followed by former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard and US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in 2014 and 2019, respectively.
19 Years, 5 Months, 20 Days
Still just a teenager, Mboko became the youngest player to crack the WTA’s Top 10 since world No. 7 Andreeva did so last year.

There have not been two teens in the Top 10 in 17 years, when an 18-year-old Caroline Woznacki and a 19-year-old Victoria Azarenka were among the WTA’s best ten.
