In just under one month’s time, the ATP Tour will land in Toronto for the 2025 National Bank Open.
The initial player list was released on Wednesday, July 2 and includes all the Top 73 players in the ATP rankings. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting players who are expected to be competing in Toronto at the end of July.
This week, let’s meet the Top 10 players in the ATP Rankings.

Jannik Sinner
- Age: 23

Jannik Sinner’s return to Toronto in 2025 will be quite sentimental for the world No. 1. The Italian won his maiden Masters 1000 title at the 2023 National Bank Open, his first of four.
And of course, Sinner is no stranger to hard courts as the 23-year-old’s three Grand Slam wins have all come on his favourite surface.
So, it may not be ski season when Sinner touches down in Canada, but the former youth national skiing champion will have his eyes set on regaining his National Bank Open crown.
Carlos Alcaraz

After withdrawing from the 2024 National Bank Open, former world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz is set to make his return to Canada this year.
Since his last Canadian Open appearance, the Spaniard has failed to make the quarter-final of a major just once, a span that included back-to-back Roland Garros and Wimbledon titles.

Alcaraz has made the final at all the North American big events – except in Canada.
Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev’s 2025 campaign began on the right foot after reaching his third Grand Slam final at the Australian Open.
Now, as the tour soon shifts back to the hard court, the German has another chance to add more accolades on the surface. When on the asphalt, Zverev is a three-time Masters 1000 champion, two-time ATP Finals winner, and an Olympic gold medalist.
Jack Draper

Fans in Toronto will get their first look at Jack Draper this summer as the 23-year-old’s two National Bank Open appearances have both come in Montreal, where he reached his maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final as a qualifier in 2022.

Thanks to a semifinal run at the U.S. Open and a first big event win in Indian Wells, Draper has been one of the biggest risers on the tour, sitting at a career-high 4th in the ATP rankings.
Taylor Fritz

It was year-long wait but Taylor Fritz was finally crowned an ATP champion once again. The American hoisted the trophy in Stuttgart before following that up with a win in Eastbourne.
Fritz has reached at least the quarter-final in all four American big events – reaching the U.S. Open final in 2024 – but has yet to make a deep run north of the States.
Novak Djokovic

The man with the third-most National Bank Open titles in the Open Era – trailing only Ivan Lendl and Rafael Nadal – Novak Djokovic doesn’t need much of an introduction.
Four of the Serb’s 100 career titles have come in Canada but it has been seven years since Canadian tennis fans have been able to see the 24-time major winner live.

Lorenzo Musetti
- Age: 23

Lorenzo Musetti came off an impressive 2025 clay season as the Italian reached at least the semifinal at all four big clay events, including a runner-up finish in Monte-Carlo.
The next big event on the calender, the National Bank Open, where Musetti will look for his first Masters 1000 triumph and just his second ATP hard court title.
Holger Rune

From the northern-most point in the ATP Top 10, Gentofte-native Holger Rune is set to make his fourth appearance in the ‘Great White North’, seeking his first win in Toronto.
The Dane finished as runner-up in Indian Wells earlier this year, his third Masters 1000 final.
Rune’s secret talent is juggling so the 22-year-old will look to juggle a fifth-career title at the National Bank Open.
Daniil Medvedev

A former world No. 1, Daniil Medvedev has reached the National Bank Open final in both Montreal and Toronto, hoisting the trophy in the Ontarian capital in 2021.

The 29-year-old’s successes have mainly come on hard courts as 15 of the Medvedev’s 16 big event final appearances have come on the asphalt.
Ben Shelton

In the Top 10 for the first time, Ben Shelton is in a favourable spot heading into the National Bank Open.
The 22-year-old hasn’t had the best fortune in his draws, having to face No. 1 seed Alcaraz in 2023 and eventual champion Alexei Popyrin in 2024, both in the second round.
But Shelton has been in the best form of his still young career as the American reached the semifinal of the Australian Open.
