Sunday, July 27 Toronto Preview: Busy Day to Kick Off Main Draw Play

The big show is about to begin at Sobeys Stadium. Main draw play gets underway on Sunday at the 2025 National Bank Open.

A lot is still up in the air heading into the first day of the main event in Toronto, with a few qualifying matches to be completed that will directly affect the order of play on Sunday. That includes Vasek Pospisil’s potential swan song. And of course, 407 ETR Family Weekend is still going strong.

Here’s what to expect on Sunday at the 2025 National Bank Open in Toronto.

On-Court Action

All Canadian eyes are expected to be on the opening match of the night session on Sunday night, where Vasek Pospisil is tentatively scheduled to kick off his farewell tournament.

But there is a catch.

Pospisil drew a qualifier in the first round and qualifying is not over. Rain on Saturday night meant three qualifying matches could not be completed. As a result, those three matches will be wrapped up on Sunday morning and only then will they be placed into the draw.

One of those three potential qualifiers is Canadian Dan Martin, who was tied 5-5 in the third set with Taro Daniel when their match was paused. Martin and Daniel have to finish their match on Centre Court, as they played on the main stage on Saturday.

The first main draw match of the 2025 National Bank Open on Centre Court will be 2021 Toronto runner-up Reilly Opelka against Sebastian Ofner.

Canadian fans have one guaranteed home player in action on Sunday, as 18-year-old Nicolas Arseneault will make his ATP Tour debut in the second match on the Motorola razr Grandstand against Laslo Djere.
