It all comes down to this: the first Finals Thursday in National Bank Open history.
A historic tournament will wrap up today in Toronto with doubles and singles champions crowned at Sobeys Stadium. A British champion is guaranteed in the doubles, while a first-time NBO winner will lift the trophy in singles.
Here’s what to expect on Thursday at the 2025 National Bank Open in Toronto.
Proceedings will begin at 5:00 pm tonight with the all-British doubles final between second seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool and sixth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski. Salisbury and Skupski knocked off the top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic in the quarter-finals.
Both Skupski and Salisbury are seeking their second title in Canada, but first as a team. Salisbury won in Toronto back in 2021 with Rajeev Ram and Skupski won the following year in Montreal with Wesley Koolhof. This will be Salisbury's third straight final in Canada, having lost in the title match in each of the last two years with Ram.

Cash and Glasspool are into their third Masters 1000 final of the year but are seeking their first title at that level.
The singles final between Ben Shelton and Karen Khachanov will not begin before 7:30 pm.
Khachanov will be competing in his second Masters 1000 final, having won his lone previous one in Paris-Bercy back in 2018. Shelton got past the quarter-finals at the Masters 1000 level for the first time this week in Toronto.

These two have met only once before on tour, but it was also at a hard-court Masters 1000 event in 2025. Shelton defeated Khachanov in the third round at the 2025 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in straight sets.
On the way to the final, Khachanov beat three seeded opponents: No. 8 Casper Ruud, No. 26 Alex Michelsen, and No. 1 Alexander Zverev. The first two were straight set wins, while he outlasted the top seed in a nearly three-hour thriller that ended in a third-set tiebreak in the semis.

Shelton had to win back-to-back third-set tiebreaks to beat Brandon Nakashima and Fabian Marozsan before cruising past 2023 Toronto runner-up Alex de Minaur in the quarters. In the semis, he was on the front-foot throughout, upsetting his second-seeded countryman Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the semis.
A first-time champion in Canada is guaranteed on Thursday. If Shelton wins, he will make it the fourth year in a row that the National Bank Open champion is a first-time Masters 1000 winner.
