The entertaining Frenchman, who will retire this season, has been awarded a wild card for the main draw so that he can say goodbye to a city and a tournament that have been a big part of his impressive career. In turn, the Montreal fans, who have always embraced Monfils as one of their own through the years, will be able to bid adieu to one of their forever favourites and shower him with appreciation one last time.

His electric game and the vibes of IGA Stadium have always been a perfect match. We’ll find out who Monfils plays in the opening round during the official draw ceremony on Friday, July 31 beginning at 11 a.m.
