Four Grand Slam champions hit the court for the third round on Friday, joined by crowd favourites Leylah Annie Fernandez and Alexandra Eala in a pair of matches on Centre Court.

Leylah Annie Fernandez provided the biggest upset of Day 7, stunning No. 5 Mirra Andreeva 6-1, 6-4 to oust the reigning Roland-Garros champion from the tournament. She now moves on to the round of 16 for just the second time in seven career appearances at the NBO, where she will face Naomi Osaka, who beat Elise Mertens later on Friday.

Eala-Mania capped off the night on Centre Court once again as she faced off against Caty McNally.

After breaking the American three times in a first-set victory, the Filipino star would go on to win 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 to advance.

No. 2 Elena Rybakina faced two set points against American Ann Li, but rallied to win four straight games and advance to the round of 16 in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Rybakina drilled her 306th ace of the season, the most in the WTA this year.

13th seed Iva Jovic was upset by unseeded Alina Korneeva 6-3, 6-4. The 18-year-old Jovic had been successful on hard courts this year, reaching the finals in Hobart, the semis in Auckland, and the quarter-final at the Australian Open, though she is still looking for her first title of 2026.

Other winners include No. 4 Coco Gauff and Liudmila Samsonova.
