The semifinals take place on Wednesday as four players clash for a spot in the finals.
Here’s what to expect on Wednesday at the 2025 National Bank Open in Toronto.
On-Court Action
Top seed Alexander Zverev will take on No. 11 Karen Khachanov in the night’s first semifinal. Zverev defeated 2024 NBO champion Alexei Popyrin 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-3 on Monday, while Khachanov beat American Alex Michelsen in straight sets to reach the final four.
The 28-year-old Zverev makes his second-career appearance in the National Bank Open semis after winning the event in 2017. Thai will be Khachanov’s third semifinal appearance at the Canadian Masters event, though he has yet to reach the final.
The pair have faced off seven times in their careers, with Zverev holding a 5-2 advantage, including victories in the past three meetings. The last time Khachanov beat Zverev was in the NBO quarter-final in 2019.

In the second semi, the top two Americans, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton will meet for the second time on tour. Fritz won their previous meeting in Indian Wells back in 2023 in three sets.
Both men are already in uncharted territory, having reached the semifinals in Canada for the first time. For Shelton, it is his first Masters 1000 semifinal anywhere.
The second men’s doubles semifinal will see Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury battle the Argentinian duo of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez. The winners will go on to face Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash in the final.
